Another exciting project has rolled into our shop, and our team is already hard at work.
This service rig arrived with a specific goal in mind: the customer wanted to upgrade all three existing axles to heavier-duty units capable of handling increased loads and improving overall durability. In addition to the axle upgrade, they requested that the axle group be relocated farther toward the rear of the rig. The purpose of this modification is to reduce the amount of weight carried by the drive axles, helping improve weight distribution, increase payload capacity, and ensure the unit remains compliant with applicable regulations.
As with every major modification, the first step was a thorough evaluation of the project. Our technicians carefully inspected the service rig, reviewed the customer’s requirements, and developed a plan to safely complete the work. Once the assessment was complete, we got started by removing the tires and disassembling the existing axle setup. The old axles have now been removed, and the service rig is ready for the next phase of the project.
At this stage, we are awaiting final engineering approval and specifications. The engineers will determine exactly how far the new axle group can be relocated while maintaining structural integrity, safety, and compliance. Once we receive those details, our team will move forward with fabrication, installation, and final assembly.
Projects like this showcase the versatility of our shop and the expertise of our technicians. Whether it’s repairs, modifications, custom fabrication, or complete rebuilds, we take pride in delivering quality workmanship and practical solutions for our customers.
